  • Week 5 in Summary

Week 5  (11th October to 16th October) Hmmm...sunday morning and what do i have to report for this week....Ok. Well this week was rather short considering we only arrived home from Montreal late Monday night. Tuesday me, Plotti, Henning and Thomas had to wake up early (well - 9.00 is early, come on!) to return the rental cars. We were all late for our class at 10 (oh well! Im soo upset!)  and I was supposed to stay at uni until my Spanish test at 4, but then I ran into Nicole at SLC and we ended up having a 2 hr lunch (during which we decided we need to have a party this week!) and then I ended up being too tired to study so i went home and crashed - sleeping through my spanish test! oopppsss...sorry mum... boring laundry and grocery shopping on tuesday night...and then Wednesday - again not much happening...slept in until 1.00 and then had to rush to class at 1.30 ummm...found out i got 76% in my psych test which im quite proud about considering ive never done psych before. Thursday - ummm....oh yeah, oktoberfest!  I had to redo my spanish test and I slept through and missed my politics lecture again (I can  never  make that bloody class on Thursdays!) and then I had my ice-skating lesson during which i learnt how to cross-cut backwards - pretty cool! By the time i get to the frog pond at Boston I will bea pro (in my own head anyway!) Rushing from the icefields to home, me and Nicole were ready to go at 9.00. The school bus took us to this little german-style festival hall and it wa really strange - firstly, there were no glass  steins, and secondly, there were no german beers being sold!!  Whatsthe point of having a German festival if you dont even bother getting the bloody beer!!! The sight of all these old asian ladies doing a ho-down to German polka music was also quite disturbing...I had to work hard to drink lots of beer to erase that image from my memory!!  The Thursday oktoberfestthing was more like an American frat party that u see on the movies - there were all these uni students getting pissed and stuffing sour krat down their pants (as u can see from the photos). And on the way home, I lost the people i went with and ended up with some other Waterloo people on the wrongbus!  We ended up on the Laurier bus (the other university in Waterloo) and omigod! That was a bloody frat party - the whole bus kept singing these songs like 'we're the perverts of society, we're the worst you've ever seen, we're a bunch of f**ken assholes, weér the Laurier (something) team!'' Iwas so surprised at the songs I took a little sound recording of it!!  And they reckon they're not American!!  Come on peoples!! Friday I slept in til late, and then went to uni to write some postcards and ended up at Mr Sushi with Negar for lunch. As soon as I got home from lunch (which ended upbeing 6.00) I had to quickly get ready to go to unit 2 for Ellen's birthday party - we went from there to the Oktoberfest at Waterloo Rec Centre and that one was a lot better I think than Thursday's one. There were still no German beers, but at least there were glass steins and the beers were a bit(although only slightly) cheaper than the other night!  They actually had some proper polka dancing as well which looked pretty good. And i dont know if im missing something here, but everyone was doing the chicken dance (is that german!! I thought it was only at Rolloways that they did that!) Sat - and I woke up pretty sick that day - yuckkkk. Too much one the days before I think!  Went to Fairview mall with Negar and some others and i confirmed my intial suspicions that that mall absolutly sucks. i thought i was over Garden City - but this one is like a slightly larger Bullcreek  - how crappy! (and on other point, i met an australian international guy over here who livedin bullcreek - small world!) Then sat night - was my party!!  Came home at 5.30 and had to run around cleaning things up, ran to LCBO (the bottle-o) to get some australian wine. The theme of the party was everyone had to bring something from their home country - i cant make pavlova so i just boughtsome wolf blass wine! thats still australian!  The party went off to a slow start but ended up being great!  Heaps of people (some of whom i didnt know but it was all good) and the whole thing lasted until about 2.30-ish. good effort i thought anyway!  Sunday - and the cleanup begins! I am now really sick...I have no voice and a nose that is like a tap!!  My roommates and I decided that we need to keep having parties, if only for the fact that its the only way we can get everyone to clean the house!! Our house is nice now! Yay!! So - thats about it. Will keep everyone updated ...hopefullysome more interesting things can happen so I have something juicy to report!!  Cya.  (also sorry about the poor grammar and spelling - me too sick to write properly!)
